Review of Room101 Namakubi Chingon Cigar

By: Gary Manelski

Room101 Namakubi Chingon limited-edition cigars are made in the Dominican Republic with a San Andres Maduro wrapper, Sumatra binder, and a blend of filler tobaccos from Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, and Pennsylvania (Broadleaf). These revamped versions of the brand were relaunched during October 2025 in one 5.5 x 60 perfecto vitola priced at $24.99 per cigar. The cigars are sold in 10-count boxes and each cigar is individually encased in blue and white decorative papers. For more information about these cigars, please see the press release.

The sample Room101 Namakubi Chingon perfecto cigar began with a modest peppery flavor. In just a couple of minutes or so, a dry woodsy flavor emerged that gradually became predominate during the next 15 minutes. I ashed the cigar for the first time at the 20-minute mark. At 30 minutes into the smoking session, the flavors were becoming more balanced and smoother. The body was medium-full, and remained that way for the duration of the smoke.

I ashed the cigar for the second time at the 45 minute mark, and then smoked it for another half-hour resulting in a total smoking time of 75 minutes down to 1½ inches remaining. During that time, the cigar had a great draw, even burn, and held a long ash. No relights nor touch-ups were needed, and it was really a pleasure to smoke a cigar without experiencing any construction issues whatsoever. To say that this perfecto was perfectly constructed would be an understatement.

The sample cigar's flavor was fuller during the first half of the cigar, when the initial peppery taste gradually faded into the background before a mostly dry wood flavor became predominate. However, the tastes then became less intense but smoother and more balanced when smoking the second half of the cigar. Overall, I enjoyed the sample Room101 Namakubi Chingon perfecto from start to finish and rate it with a superior 4.25 points on a 5-point scale. Although the cigar's decorative blue and white wrapping paper does not affect its smoking enjoyment, it does make it a good candidate to give as a gift.
