Review of Room101
15th Anniversary Cigar

By: Gary Manelski

Room101 15th Anniversary cigars are limited-edition Nicaraguan puros designed by Matt Booth in collaboration with AJ Fernandez. The cigars became available in February 2025 in one Toro (6 x 52) size priced at $14.99 per stick. For more information about this cigar, please see the press release.

The sample Room101 15th Anniversary cigar started off with a generous dose of very enjoyable sweet and spicy flavors. The smoke was medium bodied and nicely balanced with the flavor and strength. After about 15 minutes, the sweet and spicy flavors tamed down a bit, but were still very enjoyable. About 10 minutes later at the 25-minute point, I ashed the cigar for the first time. It was around this time that the strength of the cigar ticked up a bit, but was not at all overpowering. The body creeped up to medium-plus, and the sweet spicy flavors continued to gradually fade, but were still noticeable. After another 10 minutes, the flavors were still hanging in there but had faded enough to lower my enjoyment of the cigar from an excellent 4.5 points to a superior 4.25 points on a 5-point scale.

At the 40-minute mark, the cigar went out for the first time and needed a relight. During the next 20 minutes, the flavor continued to fade, lowering my enjoyment another notch to a still very-good 4 points (by the one-hour mark). The flavor was never bad, just significantly less intense. The taste remained pretty much consistent during the last 25 minutes of the smoking session, when a second relight was also needed. In addition, a minor touch-up was applied shortly before the Toro-size cigar went out with 2ΒΌ inches remaining, after a total smoke time of 85 minutes.

The sample Room101 15th Anniversary cigar was well made and had an even burn (until the very end), held a long ash (until the relights) and had a very good draw. The cigar started off with very enjoyable naturally sweet and spicy tobacco flavors that gradually faded during the smoking session, but never tasted bad. Overall, I rate this cigar with a superior 4.25 points on a 5-point scale.
