Review of La Gloria Cubana Serie S Cigar

By: Gary Manelski

La Gloria Cubana Serie S cigars debuted in August 2022, and are available in three sizes including a Robusto Gordo (5.5 x 56) priced at $7.99, which is the subject of this review. The cigars are made in Dominican Republic with a Mexican San Andres wrapper (a first for La Gloria Cubana), Nicaraguan binder, and blend of Nicaraguan and Dominican filler tobaccos. For more information about these cigars, please refer to the press release.

The sample La Gloria Cubana Serie S Robusto Gordo cigar started off with an earthy flavor along with a subtle sweetness. After five minutes, a hint of spice joined the mix, and the smoke was medium-to-full bodied. At about the 20-minute mark, a taste of leather joined in and became dominant after another five minutes or so, lasting until the end of the smoking session.

During the first few minutes of the cigar, the draw was somewhat firm but not too restrictive. After 10-15 minutes, the draw loosened up a bit and was close to ideal for the remainder of the cigar. During the 60 minutes that it took me to smoke the Robusto Gordo down to two inches remaining, the cigar held a long ash and maintained an even burn, and did not require any touch-ups nor relights.

I found the La Gloria Cubana Serie S Robusto Gordo to be an enjoyable cigar that is easily deserving of a very good and solid rating of 4 points on a 5-point scale. At a suggested retail price of just $7.99 per cigar, most cigar smokers should give one a try.
