El Rey Del Mundo Appointment cigars are made in Honduras with a Cameroon wrapper, Connecticut Broadleaf binder, and a blend of Nicaraguan and Ecuadorian filler tobaccos. These cigars became available in April 2025 in three sizes, including the Robusto (5 x 50) priced at $8.79 that is the subject of this review. The sample El Rey Del Mundo Appointment Robusto cigar began with an interesting combination of sweet, spicy, citrus and cedar flavors which lasted for about five minutes before the sweet taste faded a bit. The smoke was medium bodied and remained constant throughout the entire smoking session. However after another five minutes, the sweet flavor returned but the citrus and cedar started fading, with the spice still remaining. At the 15-minute point, I ashed the cigar for the first time, when the intensity of each of the same four flavors changed again. During the next 15 minutes, the flavor components continued taking turns fading out and then coming back.
At the 30-minute mark, I ashed the cigar for the second time. Beyond this point, the taste was less sweet and the other flavors remained pretty much consistent until the very end, when the sweetness made one last attempt at coming back one more time. However, this was at the 45-minute mark with only 1½ inches of the cigar remaining, which brought the smoking session to a close.
The El Rey Del Mundo Appointment was a very interesting cigar in the way the flavors took turns fading out and then coming back. Some of these different balances of flavor tasted better than others, with the middle 15 minutes of the cigar being the best. The cigar was well made and had a very good draw, held a long ash, and maintained an even burn. No relights nor touch-ups were needed. Although the balance of flavors kept changing, my enjoyment level of the tastes remained pretty much within the 3.75 to 4.25-point range during the smoking session, earning the Appointment Robusto a very good overall rating of 4 points on a 5-point scale.
