Majestic Princess Cruise Ship
Cigar Smoking Areas - December 2025

By: Gary Manelski

Like many other cruise ships these days, smoking cigars on the Majestic Princess is limited to two designated outside areas and is not permitted anywhere inside the ship nor on stateroom balconies. Cigarette smokers can also smoke in the casino, but cigar smokers do not have that option. The best area to smoke a cigar on the Majestic Princess is at the aft (back) of Deck 17, which is covered and has comfortable chairs. This area is often crowded with both cigarette and cigar smokers, but another area at the aft starboard (right) side of the ship on Deck 7 is also an option. Although this smoking area is smaller and less comfortable than on Deck 17, it seldom gets crowded.

During my eight-day cruise on the Majestic Princess, I was able to smoke eight premium cigars while enjoying a good selection of cocktails along with some friendly conversations, not to mention the magnificent views. The ship was built in 2017, but was refurbished in 2025. It is a good size ship at 144K tons, and has the capacity to accommodate 3560 guests (double occupancy) in 1780 cabins.

I always bring my own cigars to smoke on a cruise ship, but like most ships that allow cigar smoking, cigars are also sold in Majestic Princess' gift shop. You can also purchase cigars at most ports of call. Not all cruise ships allow cigar smoking, so always check with your travel agent before booking a cruise if smoking cigars on a particular ship is important to you. In lieu of writing 1000 words, I've included a few photos that describe some of my cigar smoking experiences on the Majestic Princess.
