Review of Alec Bradley
Chunk Maduro XL Cigar

Alec Bradley Chunk Maduro cigars are made in Honduras with a Mexican Maduro wrapper, Honduran Jamastran binder, and Dominican Piloto and Nicaraguan Esteli filler tobaccos. These cigars became available in October 2024 in five sizes, including two limited-edition vitolas. The size reviewed here is the Chunk XL (4 X 60), which is priced at $5.89 per cigar. For more information about these cigars, please check out the press release.

The Alec Bradley Chunk Maduro XL cigar began with a naturally sweet, rich and full earthy flavor from the very first puff. During the next 5 to 10 minutes, a leather flavor also joined the mix. The smoke was medium-to-full bodied and not overpowering, but the flavors were still rich and full.

By the 20-minute mark, leather had gradually become the predominate flavor, but the sweet earthy taste was still very noticeable, along with subtle hints of spice. I removed the band five minutes later, and after another five minutes, the leather flavor became even more predominate with the sweet earthy taste lingering mostly in the background. At the 35-minute point, the ash fell off by itself, then five minutes after that, the cigar went out with 1½ inches remaining. Total smoking time was 40 minutes.

The Alec Bradley Chunk Maduro XL is a very good cigar for more seasoned cigar smokers, and not recommended for beginners. Although I am not a big fan of short and stubby cigar sizes, I am rating it with a very good 4+ points on a 5-point scale because of its pleasing naturally sweet, rich and full flavors.
