Review of Cohiba Blue Cigars

Cohiba Blue is the latest Cohiba brand cigar from General Cigar, as of May 2017. These sticks are not as full as typical Dominican Cohiba cigars, but that is not a bad thing. Honduran OSA leaves are used for both the wrapper and binder, and the filler is a blend of tobaccos from three countries. Read More!

Aging a CAO America Cigar

The CAO America cigar was introduced back in 2007, before CAO became a part of the General Cigar Company. I reviewed a couple of those cigars at that time, but stashed away one of the samples in a humidor, where it has been aging for almost 10 years! This is a review of that cigar. Read More!

What Is a Premium Cigar?

According to Senate Bill 294, a cigar is premium if it meets the following criteria:
  • It must be wrapped in 100 percent leaf tobacco and bunched in 100 percent tobacco filler.
  • It cannot contain a filter, tip or non-tobacco mouthpiece.
  • It must weigh at least 6 pounds per 1,000 count.
  • It has 100 percent tobacco binder and is hand rolled, or is made with human hands to lay the wrapper or binder onto one machine that bunches, wraps and caps the individual cigars, or has a homogenized tobacco leaf binder and is made in the United States using human hands to lay a 100  percent leaf tobacco  wrapper onto one machine that bunches, wraps, and caps each individual cigar.

Five different sizes were sampled during my 'retro' review, which was originally written for another website and now updated. Castro Gone at 90

Fidel Castro passed away on November 25, 2016, at the age of 90. Castro is considered to be one of the most notable cigar smokers of all time. Cigar Aficionado has him ranked as No. 3, behind Churchill and Kennedy. Cohiba cigars were his favorite, but because of health reasons, he gave up cigars at the age of 59, back in 1985. In 2008, he resigned as President of Cuba. Although he is now gone for good, he will still remain a symbol of Cuban Communism and of course, cigars.

Review of CAO Consigliere Cigar

CAO Consigliere cigars were released by General Cigar during October 2016, but are really a reintroduction of a highly rated CAO cigar that was named after a very popular HBO series more than 10 years ago. Cigars and Indians

On November 1 and 2, 2016, the Cleveland Indians have a chance to win their first World Series in 68 years. Being a native of Cleveland, I have waited for a World Series title my entire life. If the Tribe wins, Champagne will flow and cigars will burn.

Since Indians "invented" tobacco, Cleveland Indians players and fans are expected to continue the tradition by firing up some celebratory stogies. Any brand will do, but if you can get your hands on a few of Rocky Patel's old Indian Tabac cigars, I'm sure that Chief Wahoo would approve.
